Peter Kennedy
is a drama in
education specialist with eighteen years experience. He is Stockport’s
drama consultant as well as a freelance drama practitioner and inset
course
leader.
“The focus of my work is on providing pupils with
positive
drama experiences and providing teachers with practical ideas that they
can use
in their classroom. This includes how to
use drama to teach across the curriculum as well as the teaching of
drama as a
discrete, aesthetic subject.”
Previously…
…as Head
of Drama at The
Kingsway School (Stockport), Peter led
a
thriving drama department for ten years inspiring and motivating pupils
across
a wide ability range to achieve their potential in drama. All pupils
experienced a varied and challenging key stage three drama curriculum
while at
key stage four drama was a very popular and successful GCSE option.
Peter
combined this with an extensive range of extra curricular activities
including
school productions, drama clubs, theatre visits and performance
opportunities.
Currently…
…Peter works as the Drama
Adviser for Stockport LA supporting the work of the secondary drama
departments as well as co-ordinating a network of drama teachers.
He is
as an Associate
Lecturer at Manchester
Metropolitan University
supporting the training and development of specialist secondary drama
teachers
as well as extending the teaching repertoire of trainee primary school
teachers.
In
addition, Peter is the
drama tutor for Northern Ballet School
(Manchester)
providing specialist drama workshops to support the performance
training of the
next generation of ballerinas and professional dancers.
Recently…
…Peter has
worked
extensively on the Chrysalis project in Wakefield
meeting the challenges of the creative curriculum agenda as well as on
the
P.A.D. (Primary Arts Development) project in Cheshire, inspiring pupils and
teachers alike
through drama as a methodology to raise attainment.
